Founded in 1946 in Mitaka, Tokyo, Casio began as a calculator and electronics company before launching the Casiotone electronic calculator watch and ultimately the G-Shock line in 1983. Engineer Kikuo Ibe designed the original G-Shock with a “triple 10” specification — 10-year battery life, 10-bar water resistance, and 10-meter free-fall durability — using a floating module construction where the movement is suspended in urethane to absorb impact. The modern G-Shock lineup spans over 200 models from entry-level DW-5600 to luxury MR-G and titanium Oceanus.

Casio watches span four major technology platforms: standard battery-powered quartz, Tough Solar (solar-cell with rechargeable capacitor), Multi-Band 6 (radio-controlled atomic timekeeping), and Bluetooth connectivity.
